Long Beach, Calif. (August 14, 2012) – On July 23, the WyoTech campus in Long Beach, Calif., added the medical insurance billing and coding (MIBC) program to its curriculum. The diploma program will give prospective students the opportunity to train for administrative careers in the health care industry.
At WyoTech, the MIBC program is an eight-month program and students can learn the basic concepts and procedures to perform the tasks involved in health insurance as well as insurance claim forms. The program includes an externship, where students receive hands-on training at an actual health care facility. Upon graduation, WyoTech offers its students career placement services in the fields for which they are trained.
“This program is an excellent addition to our existing allied health program offering,” said Brad Janis, president of WyoTech-Long Beach. “According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical records careers are expected to grow 21% from 2010-2020, faster than the average for all occupations. Our goal is to develop the skilled graduates to help meet the need for this growing field.”
Earning a diploma in this field provides the opportunity to pursue a career as a medical insurance biller, medical records clerk, outpatient billing or medical claims representative. For more information about all of the programs offered at WyoTech, please visit www.wyotech.edu.
